Using Storyboards to Develop Training Programs

Training programs are a vital component of every successful business - if it weren’t, the whole nation wouldn’t have been deprived their Starbucks coffee during a 3 hour period last Monday night. If you don’t have one within your company, then you just might find that there’s no time like the present to start to develop one.

Storyboards can be an extremely effective way of developing your training program.

With storyboards you can:

  1. Identify the structure of your business so that new trainees can determine whom they are to report to;
  2. Identify the key components of any position within the company - in other words, to create job descriptions for all of your employees;
  3. Identify the best way for individuals to learn the job: what should be taught first, second, third, etc.; and,
  4. Create a resource that your employees can fall back on after training.

When you use storyboards to create effective training procedures and to map out the key elements of any position, you’ll find that it’s a lot easier for new employees to catch on and come up to speed.
